Methods to Increase Attachment Size in Office 365

It is by default, that Microsoft provides a message size limit of 25MB which is increased to a size limit of 150MB by Microsoft. This is significant that increase the previous limit of 25MB. As you know well that the text size is much shorter than the attachments. That’s why we face problems while sending the attachments and for resolving these problems we can increase the limit or allocate mailbox size restriction or need to increase attachment size.

Reasons to Increase Attachment size

1. Internet email account (POP3, IAMP, HTTP): You receive an error “Attachment size exceeds the allowable limit” message because the Outlook and latest versions of Outlook have a default mail attachment size limit of 25MB. This limit prevents the system from constantly uploading the large attachments that which exceed the internet services limit. This limit applies when you are adding a large attachment that is greater than 25MB. That’s why we increase mail size.
2. Microsoft Exchange Email Server Email Account: You receive an error “Attachment size exceeds the allowable limit” when you exceed the limit when you are trying to send some email which is greater than 10MB. This limit is not for the OUtlook. This limit for Exchange Mailbox set from the maximum send setting configure by the Trasport setting properties dialog box by the Exchange administrator.

There are two methods for increasing the mail attachment size limit. The first is by using the Exchange Online Admin center and the second method to enlarge the mailbox size by using Powershell.

Manual Methods to Increase Attachment size

Method1:  Increase Email Attachment by Using Office 365 Portal

• Login to Office 365 Account, click Admin center icon and then Exchange
• Go to the section of Recipients of the Exchange Admin center. In this option under the mailbox section, you find the list of mailboxes which are connected to Office 365 Cloud-platform. Choose any one of them Whose size you want to increase.
• Now go to “Set default message size restriction”. When you tap on it, a dialog box will be shown on the screen where you will be asked to type the maximum message size to increase the size for sent and receive messages or emails. Then click Ok. if you are running an Online Exchange Organization, then the size limit is from 0 to 153600KB. The mailbox size limit for Exchange Server 2013 organizations is from 0 to 2097151KB

For increase mail attachment size in bulk format

Choose all the mailboxes. A bulk or Multiple edits screen will be displayed on the right side. There you find an option “Message size restriction”, Tap on Update option below it>>Again, a dialog box will appear

Write the maximum size limit and tap on Save

Method2: Change Attachment Size by Using Powershell

• Connect Windows PowerShell to the Cloud Platform, then login with Office 365 account by executing the given command
• Run the Import-PSSession command to import the PSSession to Exchange online
• Se the Office 365 attachment size limit for a user
• The current list of the quota is connected to the mailbox
